Available now from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com

A long time ago, or so it seems such is the length of time it can take for anything to be published, 40 Moon Books authors, of whom I am one, got together to write iPagan, a collection of essays on a range of Pagan topics.

The collection covers Druidry, Shamanism, Goddess Spirituality, Witchcraft, and Paganism today. It is available only as an ebook and with 40 writers and 59 topics for such a tiny price that it represents unbelievable value.

It would be hard for me to write a review being as I have a piece on ‘Signs, Symbols and Messages’  published in the section on Shamanism, but I am so looking forward to reading the other entries being as they include essays from amongst others; Ross Heaven, Luke Eastwood, Elen Sentier, Graeme K Talboys, Robin Hearne, Nimue Brown, Brendan Myers, Jane Meredith, Rachel Patterson, Morgan Daimler and Lucya Starza.

Amazon has its look inside feature in operation for the ebook, so why not go and have look. What have you got to lose?

New Book Review for Web of Life

There are many ways for people to find books that call out to them, resonate, or seem to fit as a much needed resource and one such way is through book reviews.

I try and post reviews here as I find books that readers may find interesting so I am always delighted when someone posts a generous and helpful review of something I have written.

This is a ‘hot off the press’ review for my book Web of Life. If you haven’t discovered it yet then maybe this will help you decide to go explore.

Book Review – Merlin: Once and Future Wizard

Merlin: Once and Future Wizard

Elen Sentier

As someone who has the pleasure of working with Merlin as a guide and teacher I was really looking forward to reading Elen Sentier’s ‘Merlin: Once and Future King’ and I was not disappointed in any way, quite the opposite. I often find myself reading of others work with Merlin only to see him glamorised or mythicised beyond recognition so it was really refreshing to read of Merlin being described as ‘tricky’ and to feel that yes, this is someone who really has worked with him and who knows him, not someone who’s knowledge has been acquired 3rd hand as it were.

Elen’s account is both personal and academic, in that in her book she generously shares her own journey with Merlin alongside deconstructing and explaining some of the myths and legends that surround as well as looking at those people and places connected with him. This is always done in a thoughtful and considered way, leaving the reader with insight and material which they can use to draw their own conclusion about Merlin.

I love synchronicity and shortly before starting to read ‘Merlin: Once and Future Wizard’, I found myself studying Brocéliande in Brittany, France, in my OBOD work, then discovering that one of my student’s home places is very near Brocéliande and that she knows it well, then finally reading Elen’s version of the same place. I’d like to think Merlin himself had a hand in this although maybe if he did it wouldn’t have been as clear to see 🙂

Due for release on 9th December 2016

Shaman Pathways Web of Life Review

It can be really difficult to publicise and share reviews of my own work without it feeling like my blog is a sales pitch which it really isn’t in any way. It’s so much easier to share other people’s work than it is my own anyway but I think all authors feel that way.

This week though I had contact with someone who really loved my book. She was so enthusiastic about it that I really wanted to share what she said in case anyone was feeling lost or was searching for something that Web of Life might help to give them.

The review was posted in a Facebook group so the only way I can share here is via a screenshot so I apologise for the size of the text, any smaller and it’s illegible.

Book Review: San Pedro The Gateway to Wisdom by Ross Heaven

San Pedro

The Gateway to Wisdom

by Ross Heaven

I first saw San Pedro when travelling in Northern Peru. Our guide discovered I was interested in healing and proudly showed me a cactus with the words ‘You’ll know what this is then’. Only an inspired guess saved me, for although I had indeed heard of the plant I had never seen it before.

Even though I work as a shamanic healer and as such have worked with plants as teachers, I have never worked with any of ‘TheTeacher Plants’ of which San Pedro is one. Ross Heaven though has worked with all of them and ‘San Pedro The Gateway to Wisdom’ is part of his informative series on Shamanic Plant Spirits.

This is not a ‘how to’ book by any means and even though it contains information on the different San Pedro Ceremonies, as well as ways of preparing the medicine the author throughout encourages safe and responsible practice to the extent that there is a whole section on how to work safely with San Pedro.

Included in the book are detailed accounts of the properties of San Pedro and first hand experiences of Ross Heaven and a number of his students and clients as well as background. Information on Andean healing.
This is an easy to read book and is the perfect introduction to San Pedro for anyone with an interests in working with Plant Spirits themselves, or wishing to understand how San Pedro helps to heal.

As some of you reading this may already realise, I my first, and so far only, book, ‘Web of Life’ was published by Moon Books as part of their Shaman Pathway series but did you know there are lots of other books in the Pagan Portals and Shaman Pathways series too?

A  Facebook page was also set up recently for the series.

These series consist of lots of small books, packed with information and in many cases, exercises to help you, so why not click and have a look. If you like the page then its easy to stay on touch with what is being published in the series too.
